Candela Gallery is excited to announce the open call for our thirteenth annual UnBound! Exhibition. The selected and invited artists for UnBound13! will have works on display at Candela Gallery from Friday, July 5th - Saturday, August 3rd, 2024. Featured works will also be viewable (and shoppable) on our website.

There is no theme to the UnBound! exhibition. We treat each year like a survey, encouraging a range of perspectives, concepts, and applications of the photographic medium. UnBound! has seen the likes of digital prints, darkroom work, alternative processes, mixed media, and sculptural interpretations of photography.

The majority of the works included in the UnBound! exhibition are selected from the open call submission. In addition, each year we invite a small number of artists to participate. We look for notable artists who are farther along in their photographic careers or bring something distinct to the selection. This results in a range of works from artists in different moments of their careers, and gives an extra boost to an emerging artist's CV.
We encourage students, educators, and emerging to established artists. As long as the work is photographic in origin, it is welcome!
THERE IS NO FEE TO SUBMIT TO UNBOUND!
We work hard to keep fees off of the submission process. Our hope is that photographers will choose to support our UnBound! exhibition with their active participation, just as we hope to support their work and careers in return.

This summer group exhibition is typically our only open call of the year and is dedicated to featuring a wide range of photographic artworks and artist books from 40-50 fine art photographers. We are proud of UnBound's mission to generate opportunities and exposure beyond the traditional group or juried show by providing a collection opportunity for artists.

ABOUT THE COLLECTION
Each summer, the gallery hosts our annual UnBound! gala event. During the exhibition, all funds raised through ticket sales and raffle items allow Candela to purchase select works from the exhibition. Works acquired by the event proceeds are then added to the Collection.
The mission of the Candela Collection is to support UnBound! artists through the purchase of works from the exhibition and to actively pursue opportunities to donate said works to notable permanent collections. The Candela Collection currently includes 121 photographic artworks and artist books.

SAVE THE DATE
2024's UnBound! Fundraising Gala will be Saturday, July 27th, 2024. The purchase of your ticket goes to the UnBound! Fund to support this year's UnBound! artists. General admission single tickets are $60 and pairs are $100.
STUDENT DISCOUNTS
Active students can purchase gala tickets for $45. Student status will be confirmed at check-in the night of the party with a valid student ID.

All ticket sales made by April 5, 2024 receive a discounted ticket price!
